Dear Parents and Students,
I want to personally inform you that effective immediately, I have stepped aside as Producer of Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School’s annual musical. Producing the play has been a source of pride and joy for me, and I am very proud of my accomplishments. It’s been a great run, and an honor and a privilege to have worked with you. I would like to take this opportunity now to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to you, my wonderful team, for your never‑ending love and support.
To the parents – you are the unsung heroes, the worker bees…the people who are not in the limelight yet display purity of character and kindness from the background. For all of your efforts: the long hours of service, your dedication and hard work, I am most appreciative. You are an integral part of the production team and always had my back. We tirelessly worked towards a common goal – no task was ever too great. The play is what it is because of people like you.
To the students – what can I say…you are the motivation! For all that you are and all that you do, I’m very proud of you. You gave me my purpose. So many people aimlessly walk the Earth with no focus or direction, on a quest to add meaning to their lives. But to me, you are the inspiration, the reason why I strived to facilitate your success throughout the play process, why I returned year after year. I walked in your shoes not very long ago, so I get it – the highs and the lows. I completely understand your joys and difficulties. I know it is a test of strength and endurance at times, but, you are resilient, and I can assure you, you will be stronger as a result. It’s quite an achievement and I admire your perseverance. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of your lives.
It’s said that work is not work if you love what you do, and I have loved my time at GMA. Although words don’t adequately capture the appreciation I feel, I want you to know that you have all touched my life in very positive and rewarding ways. So…for the laughter, the tears, and the sweat equity, but most especially for your friendship, I thank you. I cherish our relationship, and will hold close to me the incredible memories of the past eight years. For that, I am truly grateful and will surely miss you.
Please accept my very best wishes for good health, happiness, and success in the future. If I can ever be helpful to you in any way, or if you would simply like to say “hello”, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’d love to hear from you. And…if you happen to be in Manayunk on May 23rd at 6:30 pm, stop by James Dobson Elementary School to see my students in their annual spring musical, High School Musical. (You’ll recall that last year, my student, Seth, was Winthrop’s understudy in The Music Man. He will be playing the role of Ryan and would love to have you there to support him.)
With regards and affection,
